Patient Safety

Your safety is paramount. If Mr Devaraj feels that the risks associated with surgery or anaesthesia outweigh the benefits, he will suggest that surgery may not be the best option for you.

Some risks are general while others are specific to the procedure and vary from patient to patient. These will be explained during your consultation.

It is essential that you reveal all known medical history to your surgeon.

Safe anaesthesia is of the upmost importance. If there are risks in your medical history, these will be noted and, if necessary, this information will be shared with the anaesthetists involved in your care in confidence. You may also be refered to specialist nurses for an assessment before surgery. More information can be found on The Royal College of Anaesthetists' website.
