Charitable Activities

Prof Devaraj enjoys a challenge, ideally while fundraising for charity. His escapades include:

The London Marathon 2016 run for Starlight Childrens Charity  - raised £6,000

The Grizzly  2016 & 2018, 2020

The Great West Run (half-marathon)

2019, 2017, 2011, 2010, 2009, for FORCE Cancer Charity and Hospice Care

Vikram Devaraj says that he always plans to put together a well organised training programme to prepare for these events  but never quite succeeds! He loves taking part in the Great West Run because he thinks it is an extremely well supported, organised and enjoyable event.

100-mile Century Cycle Challenge Sponsored Ride

2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, for FORCE Cancer Charity

The Cycle Challenge is one of Vikram Devaraj's favourite events, especially because it is for a fantastic local charity.

Royal Marines Commando Challenge

2013 (17km Endurance course) involved fund raising for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust with a 17km Endurance Challenge from the Commando Training Centre at Lympstone, to the course at Woodbury and back. It was a superb event and great T shirt!

2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 (10Km) for Devon Air Ambulance

Prof Devaraj says: "Mud, slime and crazy costumes including ballerina, vampire and Oompa Loompa fancy dress… what’s not to like?" (see photo below).

Mount Kilimanjaro climb

2009, for the Alzheimer's Society

To celebrate his 50th birthday, Mr Devaraj decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (see photo above). He hoped to raise £3000 and managed to raise £3772 which was brilliant – thank you to everyone who sponsored him!
