Prof Devaraj training surgeons in Uganda

Interface Uganda (registered charity no. 1091419) promotes and develops plastic surgery and the training of surgeons in East Africa.

Prof Devaraj has visited and undertaken voluntary work in Uganda in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009.

During his visits to Africa, he has performed surgery for severe burn contractures, birth anomalies and trauma, usually working alongside a Ugandan trainee.

As well as operating, Prof Devaraj is passionate about training future surgeons. In 2009, he set up and helped run practical workshops for local doctors and therapists in Uganda’s capital city, Kampala. Click here to find out more about Prof Devaraj's involvement with Interface Uganda.

He returned from a working trip to Uganda May/June 2012 lecturing, operating and examining young surgeons at the first plastic surgery M.Med examinations held at CoRSU Disability and Rehabilitation Hospital.
